About Wijn en Cava

Wijn en Cava is a Dutch company which belongs to a Catalan journalist, who is an enthusiastic of the Spanish gastronomy and its great variety of wines. The wine importer company is specialized in biological wine made ONLY in small wineries and in a completely handmade method.

Currently, its main suppliers work with autochthonous grapes from Catalonia (Xarel·lo, Macabeo, Parellada, Sauvignon blanc, Chardonnay, Syrah, Garnacha, Cariñena, Merlot, Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon). Some of them are:

• Cesca Vicent. One of the oldest Priorato vineyards, dating back as far as the 15th century, is Francesca Vicent Robert´s. Her ancestors have been producing wine in this region for centuries. With the benefit of this tradition, Cesca Vicent is today producing a range of the finest Priorato wines available.

• Comà Romà. According to them, Nature provides the best results when it is respected. Following this philosophy, the vineyards are cultivated according to the Coma Romà’s certified organic cultivation process. Their vineyards are established in a Tertiary Age’s soil. These soils are poor in organic material and placed on a bed of limestone. Such Terrain gives low yields, properties greatly appreciated for grapes.

• Ferret Guasch. Backed by a long family tradition, Cava Josep Maria Ferret Guasch was established in 1997 for the purpose of elaborating quality cavas and wines. Their extensive experience of the world of wine and cava has taught us that the most important thing is not volume but the final result. They make both cava and wine.

• Conde de Valicourt. They voluntarily limit the number of bottles produced annually in order to maintain their particular way of elaborating cava, according to the tradicional handmade method, which entails do not mechanize the shaking process and the cutting of the neck of the bottles, nor to add preservatives or any other type of chemicals.
